The Philadelphia Phillies take the field with the San Francisco Giants at Citizen’s Bank Park.
The San Francisco Giants are right on the heels of the Dodgers for the lead in the National League West but things haven’t been going well with five consecutive defeats as they opened a series at Philadelphia Friday. The Giants finally got in the win column with a 5-4 decision that featured just enough hitting and pitching. Tim Lincecum allowed all four runs on five hits including two bombs over six frames to get the win. SF totaled 12 hits with Justin Maxwell, Matt Duffy and Buster Posey each slamming long balls. The Giants turn to left hander Madison Bumgarner for his first start against Philadelphia for the first time in 2015. Bumgarner did not receive a decision in a 7-5 loss to Atlanta where he gave up three runs on five hits over 6.1 frames.

Goal number one for the Philadelphia Phillies is to escape the National League East basement and take it from there although that hasn’t worked out with defeats in nine of eleven following Friday’s defeat. Starter Jerome Williams was charged with four runs on nine hits through 4.1 frames with Luis Garcia giving up a solo homer to take the loss. The Phils offense consisted of six hits and four walks with Maikel Franco going solo while Ryan Howard went 2-4 with a home and two RBI’s. Rookie Seveino Gonzalez makes his 5th career start and first ever against San Francisco. In four starts Gonzalez has gone 2-1 with a 6.88 ERA covering 17 innings of work.
The over is 8-2-1 in San Francisco’s last 11 road games while the Giants are 8-2 in their last 10 road games and 9-4 in their last 13 Saturday games. Philadelphia are 2-8 in their last 10 overall and are 2-8 in their last 10 games on grass while the under is 8-3-1 in their last 12 Saturday games. San Francisco are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings. The juice is high with Bumgarner on the hill but he is one of the best…
