The Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets face off on Sunday as they close out their MLB series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t get a lot of offense on Saturday but they made the most of it and got the win. Wellington Castillo hit a two run home run and Yasmany Tomas and Ender Inciarte had hits as the Diamondbacks scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed eight hits and run while striking out six over 5.2 innings to not get a decision as Randall Delgado got the win to go to 3-2 for the season and Brad Ziegler earned his sixth save. For Sunday’s game the Diamondbacks start Josh Collmenter who has allowed 76 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 32 over 62.2 innings for a 3-5 record and a 5.03 ERA.

The New York Mets had plenty of chances on Saturday but they couldn’t convert enough into runs as they took the loss in Arizona. Juan Lagares hit a home run and Michale Cuddyer and Eric Campbell each had two hits as the Mets scored one run on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed five hits and two runs while striking out seven over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-4 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Mets start Jacob deGrom who has allowed 57 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 71 over 71 innings for a 6-4 record and a 2.41 ERA.
Arizona is 4-1 in game four of a series, 17-36 against a team with a winning record, and 2-7 in Collmenter’s last nine starts as a home underdog. New York is 40-13 as a favorite, 2-6 against a right-handed starter, and 10-1 in deGrom’s last 11 starts as a favorite. New York is 6-2 in their last eight games in Arizona.
The Mets have been up and down of late but deGrom has found his game of late and has been unhittable in last four starts and I look for him to have a big edge here.
