The Miami Marlins make the long trip north of the border to face the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Miami Marlins have been playing well over the last week or so and since climbing out of the National League East basement their sights are now set on third. The Marlins took a step in that direction with a 3-2, ten inning win at Colorado for their 4th win in five contests. Rookie Jose Urena kept his team in the game with a single run plated on three hits and a pair of bases on balls over six frames in a no decision performance. The Fish totaled seven hits with Marcell Ozuna singling in two runs while Adeiny Hechavarria clubbed a solo bomb. Brad Hand makes his second start of 2015 and first ever against the Blue Jays on Monday. Hand is looking to duplicate his 5-2 victory against the Cubs where he gave up both runs on six hits in six frames.

The Toronto Blue Jays appeared to have righted the ship the past week with five consecutive victories following a 7-6 win versus visiting Houston Sunday. RA Dickey gave up two runs on four hits and four walks with Bo Schultz allowing four runs (two earned). The Blue Jays racked up 12 hits and walked twice with Jose Bautista hammering two bombs and scoring three times while Russell Martin slugged a two run homer. Chris Collabello drove in two more as the Jays won it on the strength of a three run 9th. Marco Estrada toes the rubber versus visiting Miami in their series opener on Monday. Estrada has been very good the past two times out with five runs plated on 14 hits over 13 innings.
Miami are 0-8 in their last 8 Monday games with the under going 6-2 in their last 8 Monday games while the Marlins are 3-8 in their last 11 games on astroturf. Toronto are 6-2 in their last 8 interleague home games while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 Monday games and is 13-5 in the Blue Jays last 18 games as a favorite. Miami are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings. I’m not 100% confident here so be forewarned…
