Tropicana Field and the Tampa Bay Rays square off with the Los Angeles Angels in an east versus west match up.
The Los Angeles Angels were the hottest team in the American League West a few short weeks ago before dropping five in a row. The Angels finally stopped the bleeding with an 8-2 victory at Tropicana Field. Starter Matt Shoemaker was stellar on the mound with both runs plated on five hits with six K’s over 6.1 frames to even his record at 4-4. The Angels pounded out 15 hits and walked twice with Albert Pujols going 3-4 with a homer and three runs while Kole Cahoun was 3-5 with four RBI’s and a run. Erick Aybar and Mike Trout combined for five hits and a pair of runs each. The Angels turn to veteran Jered Weaver for Wednesday’s outing against Tampa Bay. Weaver needs a big rebound from an 8-7 defeat versus the Yankees with seven runs plated on nine hits including three homers in 5.2 frames.

The Tampa Bay Rays have been playing well and their reward is second in the American League East. Despite Tuesday’s defeat the Rays have still won seven of eleven. Nothing went favorably for the home team with Nathan Karns charged with five runs (four earned) on nine hits through 5.2 frames before Enny Romero gave up three runs. Tampa Bay mustered six hits and walked twice with Joey Butler doubling in Kevin Kermaier and Rene Rivera in the 6th inning. Tampa Bay is scheduled to send Erasmo Ramirez to the bump against the Angels for the first time in 2015. Ramirez comes off of a 2-1 win at Seattle with a run plated on seven hits over 5.1 innings.
The over is 7-2 in the Angels last 9 on astroturf while Los Angeles is are 12-4 in their last 16 Wednesday games and are 11-4 in their last 15 games on astroturf. The under is 17-4 in Tampa Bay’s last 21 games as an underdog while the under is 7-2-1 in the Rays last 10 on astroturf and 7-2-1 in their last 10 home games. I’m going with Weaver but this is no easy on if Ramirez is on…
