The Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros face off on Wednesday at US Cellular Field for game three of their MLB series.
The Chicago White Sox continue to inch closer to .500 for the season as they beat the Astros on Tuesday. Jose Abreu hit a home run and Avisail Garcia and Melky Cabrera each had two hits as the White Sox scored four runs on 10 hits. Carlon Rondon allowed four hits and struck out five over 6.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 2-0 for the season and David Robertson earned his 12th save. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has allowed 72 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 59 over 67.1 innings for a 2-6 record and a 4.28 ERA.

The Houston Astros lost for the sixth time in a row as they fell to the White Sox on Tuesday. Carlos Correa had two hits including a home run and Preston Tucker and George Springer had hits as the Astros scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out five over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game Vincent Velasquez makes his first Major league start after going 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA striking out 37 in 26 1.3 innings in his five starts in AA.
Chicago is 10-3 against the AL West, 4-7 in their last 11 home games, and 2-8 in Quintana’s last 10 starts as a favorite. Houston is 11-5 in game three of a series, 4-11 against the AL Central, and 0-6 in their last six games. Houston is 2-6 in the last eight meetings of these two.
Velasquez appears to be a star in the making but it is a matter of how long he can last here but regardless I see the Astros ending the losing here and getting the win.
