The Cleveland Indians and the Seattle Mariners face off at Progressive Field in Wednesday action.
The Seattle Mariners haven’t played well over the past several weeks and need to reverse their fortunes to become a challenger in the American League West. The Mariners picked up a 3-2 victory at Progressive Field but have still lost eight of eleven. Roenis Elias provided a boost on the mound with a solo homer allowed over six frames to get the win. The M’s managed ten hits and walked four times with Logan Morrison, Robinson Cano and Seth Smith driving in runs. Taijuan Walker looks to get back in the win column when he faces Cleveland for the second time this year. Walker dominated the Indians in that outing with a two hit shutout with eight K’s over eight frames.

The Cleveland Indians look to regain their solid play of a few weeks ago in order to make a move in the American League Central. The Indians are in danger of giving back everything gained after Tuesday’s loss was their third in four games. A strong performance on the hill from Corey Kluber ended up as a loss with a pair of runs given up on seven hits and three through seven inning being too much for the offense. The Tribe totaled eight hits and walked twice with Yan Gomes providing the only spark with a pair of solo jacks. Trevor Bauer looks to continue his torrid work on the mound when he opposes the Mariners for the second time. Bauer absorbed a 2-1 defeat with both runs plated on six hit and ten strikeouts over seven innings.
Seattle are 1-8 in their last 9 overall and are 1-8 in their last 9 games on grass while the under is 22-5-2 in the Mariners last 29 Wednesday games. Cleveland are 10-2 in their last 12 Wednesday games and the under is 12-4 in their last 16 Wednesday games while the Indians are 13-6 in their last 19 overall. Seattle are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Cleveland and the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. Bauer might have to throw a shutout to win and even that might not be enough…
