The St. Louis Cardinals failed to push across a run with the bases loaded late on Tuesday as they lost to the Rockies. Jhonny Peralta and Peter Boujos each hit home runs and Mark Reynolds walked three times as the Cardinals scored four runs on three hits. Starting pitcher Michael Wacha allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out 10 over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Cardinals start Carlos Martinez who has allowed 53 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 75 over 67.1 innings for a 6-2 record and a 2.94 ERA.
Colorado is 4-1 in their last five games as an underdog, 12-5 in their last 17 games, and 5-0 in Bettis’ last five starts. St. Louis is 4-1 following a loss, 43-17 in game three of a series, and 4-1 in Martinez’s last five road starts. St. Louis is 22-10 in the last 32 meetings of these two.
The total is set at 10.5 but with these two arms I don’t see this one going over so my free pick is the under. I also have a strong play on the winning side that I wll post in the Premium Area as well we the App.
