The Washington Nationals continue their series in the Big Apple with the New York Yankees.
The Washington Nationals have been in a bit of a funk the past few weeks and that has cost them first in the National League East. The Nationals fell to the Yankees by a 6-1 count to miss out on a chance to make up ground on the Mets. Starter Max Scherzer couldn’t keep the New York attack under wraps with four runs plated on eight hits and a BB over 6.2 innings to drop to 6-5. The Nats produced six hits and a walk with Bryce Harper providing the offense with his 20th homer. Left hander Gio Gonzalez takes the hill for the second time in 2015 versus the Yankees. Gonzalez threw the ball well in a 2-1 loss to the Cubs with both runs allowed on four hits and four BB over six frames.

The New York Yankees are streaking and their reward is first in the American League East. The Yankees continued to play well with their 7th consecutive victory on Tuesday. Both the arms and bats were on the same page with starter Masahiro Tanaka allowing a solo homer through seven frames to up his record to 4-1. The Bronx Bombers racked up 13 hits and walked twice with Stephen Drew cracking a pair of solo homers while Brian McCann went 3-4 with two runs driven in with Ramon Flores posted three hits and scored. Nathan Eovaldi gets the game two start against the visiting Nationals on Wednesday. Eovaldi threw well in an 8-1 win over the Angels with one run plated on four hits and four walks in 5.1 innings.
The over is 6-2-1 in Washington’s last 9 interleague games and is 5-2-1 in their last 8 Wednesday games while the Nationals are 62-26 in their last 88 Wednesday games. The over is 7-3 in Yankees last 10 on grass and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 overall while New York are 7-1 in Eovaldi’s last 8 starts on grass. I’m not real big on Eovaldi but I’ll back the hotter squad…
