The Minnesota Twins go on the road to pay a visit to the Texas Rangers on Friday night.
The Minnesota Twins were one of the surprise teams in the American League Central but they have been fading over the past few weeks. The Twins have dropped seven of ten following a 7-2 loss to visiting Kansas City on Wednesday. The Royals took an early 4-0 lead and that was all KC needed with Kyle Gibson allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and two BB over six innings pitched. The Twins produced seven hits and walked three times with Trevor Plouffe going 2-4 with two RBI’s and a run on his 9th homer of the season. Lefty Tommy Milone shoots for back to back wins when he faces the Rangers Friday. Milone is coming off of an 8-4 victory at Fenway Park where he allowed all four runs (two earned) on nine hits over five frames.

The Texas Rangers are quietly playing very good baseball and the question is whether it continues. Despite Thursday’s 7-0 defeat at Oakland the Rangers have still won seven of eleven although the team can’t let one loss turn in to a losing streak. The bullpen and offense struggled mightily but starter Chi Chi Gonzalez gave up just a single run on eight hits and a trio of bases on balls through seven frames. Three relievers followed and allowed six runs with Jonathan Edwards giving up four runs in 2/3 of an inning. The offense was nowhere to be found with a hit and a pair of walks with Elvis Andrus rapping a single. Veteran left hander Wandy Rodriguez draws Friday’s start at the Rangers. Rodriguez looks for consecutive wins after downing Kansas City 4-2 with a run plated on six hits in seven innings.
The over is 13-6 in Minnesota’s last 19 Friday games. Texas are 15-5 in their last 20 overall and 15-5 in their last 20 games on grass. The under is 20-5-1 in the last 26 meetings. The Rangers have been playing better baseball so I have more faith in them at home…
