The Boston Red Sox look to rebound against the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park Saturday.
The Toronto Blue Jays appear to be making a move in the American League East although the team has been prone to being streaky in the past. The Blue Jays erased an 8-1 hole to outscore Boston 13-10 for win number nine straight. Starter Drew Hutchison was tagged for eight runs on nine hits including three homers in 2.1 frames before five relievers controlled the scoreboard. The Jays amassed 15 hits with Justin Smoak going 3-5 with a homer and three RBI’s and two runs while Russell Martin ripped a three run triple. Jose Reyes and Ryan Goins drove in two runs each as every starter hit safely. Veteran RA Dickey gets the game two start at Fenway Park on Saturday. Dickey comes off of a 7-6 victory against Houston with two runs plated on four hits and four BB over 5.2 frames.
The Boston Red Sox are one of the bigger disappointments in the American League East. The last place Red Sox. The disappointment continued Friday as the Red Sox squandered an 8-1 lead for loss number four in a row. Starter Joe Kelly left after six innings with four runs scored before Matt Barnes and Junchi Tazawa allowed a combined seven runs. The Red Sox racked up ten hits and walked seven times with Dustin Pedroia, Mookie Betts and Pablo Sandoval cracking long balls. Clay Buchholz looks to continue his recent surge when he opposes the Blue Jays for the third time. Buchholz had been throwing well before taking a 7-4 loss to Oakland where he allowed four runs on ten hits in 4.2 frames.
Toronto are 8-0 in their last 8 overall and are 3-8 in their last 11 road games while the Blue Jays are 3-8 in their last 11 games on grass. Boston are 7-2 in their last 9 home games while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games as a favorite and 14-6 in their last 20 home games. The over is 5-2-1 in Buchholz’s last 8 starts versus Toronto. I personally don’t favor either hurler but…
