The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Saturday at PETCO Park for game two of their MLB series on NL West teams.
The San Diego Padres continued to not get it done in the clutch as they fell to the Dodgers on Friday. Derek Norris and Clint Barmes each hit home runs and Wil Myers added a hit as the Padres scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne allowed six hits and two runs while striking out five over 6.1 innings to not get a decision as Dale Thayer blew the save and took the loss to fall to 2-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Padres start Ian Kennedy who has allowed 58 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 51 over 50 innings for a 3-5 record and a 6.48 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers battled back after trailing early to get the win on Friday in San Diego. Justin Turner, Andre Ethier, and A.J. Ellis each had two hits as the Dodgers scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed four hits and a run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings to not get a decision as Yumi Garcia got he win to go to 3-2 for the season and Kenley Jansen earned his eighth save. For Saturday’s game the Dodgers start Zack Greinke who has allowed 60 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 68 over 79.2 innings for a 5-1 record and a 1.92 ERA.
San Diego is 7-1 following a loss, 1-5 against the NL West, and 1-4 in Kennedy’s last five starts as an underdog. Los Angele is 9-3 in game two of a series, 61-28 against the NL West, and 45-22 in Greinke’s last 67 starts. Los Angeles is 5-1 in their last six games in San Diego.
While the Padres are home this is a bad matchup for them and look for the Dodgers to roll.
