The Oakland A’s couldn’t get anything going on offense as they took the loss on Saturday in Anaheim. Billy Burns and Marcus Semien each had hits and Billy Butler had two walks as the A’s didn’t score on two hits. Starting pitcher Kendall Graverman allowed eight hits and a run while striking out seven over 8.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-3 for the season. For Sunday’s game the A’s start Sonny Gray who has allowed 62 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 79 over 88 innings for a 7-3 record and a 1.74 ERA.
Los Angeles is 7-2 in their last nine home games, 1-4 as an underdog, and 23-10 in Shoemaker’s last 33 starts. Oakland is 4-1 as a favorite, 2-6 in their last eight games, and 11-5 in Gray’s last 16 starts as a road favorite. Oakland is 1-5 in their last six games against Los Angeles.
The last three games between these two have been one run games and I expect this one to be tight as well I give the slight edge to the A’s only because of Gray.
