The Boston Red Sox look for a win in game two of their series with the visiting Atlanta Braves.
The Atlanta Braves made many changes in the offseason and they are just trying to keep their heads above water. The Braves defeated struggling Boston 4-2 in the series opener behind great pitching and a few clutch hits. Starter Williams Perez improved to 3-0 with a five hit shutout over six frames. The Bravos posted nine hits and walked once with Nick Markakis going 2-4 with an RBI and run while AJ Pierzynski logged two hits and knocked in a run. Atlanta goes with Julio Teheran on the bump in his first career match up with the Red Sox. Teheran is coming in off of a 6-4 loss to San Diego with four runs scored (three earned) on four hits in seven innings.

The Boston Red Sox have been struggling to get the ship pointed in the right direction and it hasn’t been done yet. Righting the ship will have to wait another day with the Red Sox dropping number seven in a row Monday. Rick Porcello was charged with all four runs on six hits and a base on balls through six frames to fall to 4-7. The offense managed ten hits and a walk with Xander Bogaerts going deep while Mookie Betts went 3-4 and drove in Pablo Sandoval. Left hander Wade Miley will be opposing the Braves in game two of their series with the Braves. Miley struggled in a 6-5 loss to Baltimore with five runs given up on nine hits including three bombs in four frames.
The over is 9-2-1 in Atlanta’s last 12 games as an underdog and is 12-3-1 in their last 16 road games while the Braves are 2-7 in their last 9 interleague road games. The under is 7-1 in Miley’s last 8 starts overall and Atlanta are 7-20 in the last 27 meetings. Miley has been good at home and this sets up well for Boston although I can’t lay the juice with them and would look elsewhere…
