The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox travel from Fenway Park to Turner Field to resume their series.
For those waiting for the Boston Red Sox to make a move in the National League East the wait continues. The Red Sox managed to snap a seven game slide with a 9-4 win versus Atlanta behind a strong performance on the mound and at the plate. Starter Wade Miley upped his record to 6-6 with two runs scored on five hits while whiffing eight over 6.1 innings. The Red Sox pounded Atlanta pitching for 18 hits with Brock Holt going 4-5 with a homer with two runs and two RBI’s. Alejandro De Aza was 2-4 with a run and three runs driven in while Mookie Betts and Pablo Sandoval each scored twice. Joe Kelly hopes to get back in the win column when he opposes the Braves in interleague action. Kelly suffered a 13-10 loss to the Blue Jays with four runs plated on seven hits and two BB in six frames.

The Atlanta Braves are third in the National League East and have a chance to challenge with neither Washington or New York pulling away. The Braves have been fading a bit lately with defeats in four of six after Tuesday’s loss. Starter Julio Teheran was hit hard with six runs given up on 13 hits through 6.1 innings with Sugar Ray Marimon allowing three more. The Bravos could not keep up on their ten hit, two walk attack that saw Pedro Ciriaco go 2-4 with an RBI and a run while Juan Uribe went 3-4 with a run. Alex Wood looks to snap a two game skid when he faces the Red Sox for the first time in his career. In two defeats Wood has allowed seven earned runs on 13 hits and five BB in 11.1 innings.
Boston are 1-10 in their last 11 road games and the under is 6-2 in their last 8 Wednesday games. The over is 13-3-1 in Atlanta’s last 17 games as a favorite and the over is 21-8-2 in the Braves last 31 home games while the Braves are 7-17 in their last 24 games as a favorite. Boston are 19-7 in the last 26 meetings. Not a great match up but I’ll throw this out there…
