The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants face off on Sunday Night as they close out their National League West MLB series on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to watch their lead in the NL West shrink to 0.5 games as they lost to the Giants on Saturday. Joc Pederson and Justin Turner each hit home runs and Howie Kendrick and Jimmy Rollins each had two hits as the Dodgers scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Frias allowed five hits and six runs while striking out two over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-5 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Dodgers start Brett Anderson who has allowed 81 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 51 over 76 innings for a 2-4 record and a 3.43 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants continued their dominance over the Dodgers with another win on Saturday. Justin Maxwell and Brandon Belt each hit home runs Joe Panik and Brandon Crawford each had two hits as the Giants scored six runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Tim Hudson allowed six hits and two runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 5-6 for the season.
Los Angeles is 40-17 as a home favorite, 4-1 in game three of a series, and 5-2 in Anderson’s last seven starts as a home favorite. San Francisco is 9-2 as a home underdog, 0-6 in game three of a series, and 2-8 in Lincecum’s last 10 road starts. San Francisco is 5-0 in their last five games against L.A.
The Dodgers are favored here but the Giants have played their best baseball against the Dodgers and I expect the Giants to get it done here as well.
