The Chicago Cubs look to leave Target Field with a win versus the Minnesota Twins in Sunday action.
The Chicago Cubs are hoping to get hot and retake second in the National League Central. The Cubs had dropped three of four before Saturday’s 4-1, ten inning victory at Target Field on Saturday. Lefty Jon Lester was dominant with a solo jack given up over 6.1 frames with five relievers putting up zeros. The bats totaled 12 hits and walked three times with Starlin Castro going 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s while Anthony Rizzo was 2-4 with an RBI and a run. The Cubs give the ball to Jake Arrieta for the final game of the series against Minnesota. Arrieta will be looking to rebound from a 6-0 defeat to Cleveland where he allowed four runs on three hits and six BB in five frames.

The Minnesota Twins are trying to rebound from a slow two week stretch and get back to chasing down Kansas City in the American League Central. A two game winning streak ended Saturday as the pitching was great but not the hitting. Starter Trevor May was outstanding with a run plated on seven hits and seven strikeouts through six innings pitched before Blaine Boyer was tagged for three 10th inning runs to absorb the loss. The Twins posted seven hits and walked five times with Kurt Suzuki accounting for the scoring with his third homer. Kyle Gibson looks to get back in the win column when he opposes the Cubs on Sunday. Gibson was a tough luck 3-2 loser at St Louis last time out with three runs scored on six hits over six innings.
The under is 6-1-2 in Chicago’s last 9 Sunday games while the Cubs are 2-6 in their last 8 interleague road games and 3-8 in their last 11 interleague games. The over is 13-4 in Minnesota’s last 17 Sunday games and the under is 6-2 in their last 8 home games while the Twins are 18-8 in their last 26 home games. The Cubs are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings. Not a real strong feel for this one so I’ll take the better odds…
