The Philadelphia Phillies head to the Big Apple to open an interleague series with the New York Yankees.
Suffice to say the Philadelphia Phillies are already in the role of spoiler as they tinker with their lineup almost everyday. The Phillies played that role perfectly Sunday as they pounded St Louis 9-2. Rookie hurler Adam Morgan was having difficulty at Triple-A but not with the Cardinals with a run given up on six hits over 5.2 frames to win his major league debut. The Phils launched a 13 hit, two walk assault that saw Andres Blanco smack a three run bomb with Cesar Hernandez knocking in two. Ben Revere and Maikel Franco both posted three hits with an RBI and a run. The Phiillies hand the ball to newly signed Kevin Correia who makes his third start for the team. Correia has been outstanding in his two outings where he is has allowed two earned runs over 10.2 frames.

The New York Yankees have been playing well as they try to retake first in the American League East although that wasn’t the case Sunday as the Yankees were crushed 12-4 by Detroit at home. Masahiro Tanaka was pounded for seven runs (five earned) on ten hits including three homers through five frames before Daniel Burawa was tagged for four runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning. The Yanks offense had no chance on nine hits what featured a pair of solo jacks off the bat of Stephen Drew while Brian McCann also left the yard. Michael Pineda shoots for consecutive wins when he faces Philadelphia on Monday. Pineda is coming off of a 2-1 win against Miami with a solo homer served up in 6.2 innings while he struck out nine.
Philadelphia are 16-45 in their last 61 road games and the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 Monday games while the Phillies are 20-45 in their last 65 overall. New York are 19-7 in their last 26 home games and are 7-2 in Pineda’s last 9 home starts while the over is 9-3-2 in Pineda’s last 14 starts overall. The under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in New York. These teams were on the opposite ends of butt kickings and I don’t know what to expect so I’m not touching this so as a Phillies fan...
