The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their shoddy road play as they fell to the Cubs in Chicago on Monday. Joc Pederson and Enrique Hernandez each hit home runs and Yasiel Puig had a hit as the Dodgers scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed four hits and three runs while striking out nine over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-5 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Dodgers start Zack Greinke who has allowed 72 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 83 over 94.2 innings for a 5-2 record and a 1.81 ERA.
Chicago is 5-2 against a team with a winning record, 9-3 in game two of a series, and 6-1 in Hammel’s last seven home starts against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 1-4 against the NL Central, 1-5 in game two of a series, and 6-1 in Greinke’s last seven road starts. Los Angeles is 13-4 in their last 17 games against Chicago.
The Dodgers are one of the worst road teams in baseball and until they can prove they can win on the road consistently they are a fade especially as a favorite.
