The Chicago Cubs conclude their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been struggling and need to change their fortunes to hold on to first in the National League West. The Dodgers came away with a 5-2 win at Wrigley Field with starter Michael Bolsinger giving up both runs on six hits while whiffing six over 4.2 frames. Los Angeles produced seven hits with Justin Turner clubbing a three run homer while Adrian Gonzalez went solo with the offense maximizing their opportunities. The Dodgers end their series at Wrigley Field with Carlos Frias on the mound Thursday. Frias has struggled the past two times out with ten runs scored on ten hits in 10.1 innings.

The Chicago Cubs have enjoyed their best start to the season in recent memory even though that is no guarantee of what the future holds. The Cubs winning streak ended at four following Wednesday’s defeat as neither the arms or bats getting the job done. Kyle Hendricks has been up and down at times and it was down with four runs plated on four hits including a pair of long balls to take the loss. A nine hit, four walk attack featured chances but little scoring with Addison Russell going 2-3 with an RBI and run with every starter reaching base. Left hander Jon Lester gets the ball shooting for his third consecutive quality start. In back to back no decisions Lester has allowed a combined two runs on eight hits and three BB over 13.1 frames.
The Dodgers are 2-10 in their last 12 games as an underdog and are 10-4 in their last 14 Thursday games while the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 overall. The under is 17-6-3 in the Cubs last 26 home games. The over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings and Los Angeles are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Chicago. I think the Cubs are a bit over priced but if Lester is supposed to be their ace then he better show it here…
