The St Louis Cardinals look for another win when they take the field with the Miami Marlins in Thursday action.
The St Louis Cardinals have avoided slumps of any serious length as they lead the National League Central. The Cardinals won their 8th in eleven contests in a 6-1 win at Miami on Thursday with great efforts on the mound and at the plate. Starter Jaime Garcia threw the ball well with a homer served up over seven innings to even his record at 3-3. The Cards posted seven hits and walked twice with Jason Heyward slugging a three run bomb while Kolten Wong smacked a two run jack. Lefty Tyler Lyons makes his third start of 2015 when he takes the bump at Miami Thursday. Lyons comes off of a 12-4 win at Philadelphia with three runs allowed on seven hits over five innings.

The Miami Marlins have plenty of time to get back in the American League East race but time won’t be on their side forever. The Marlins are still searching for momentum after Thursday’s loss being number six in seven contests. Mat Latos fell to 2-5 with five runs given up on three hits an two bases on balls with two homers through seven innings pitched. The Fish mustered seven hits with Giancarlo Stanton going 3-4 with his 27th long ball and 67 RBI’s. Veteran Dan Haren hopes to rack up another quality start when he toes the rubber against visiting St Louis. Haren was a tough luck 5-0 loser at Cincinnati with just two runs plated on four hits in 6.1 frames.
The under is 21-7-2 in St Louis last 30 overall and is 21-7-2 in their last 30 on grass while the Cardinals are 6-2 in their last 8 Thursday games. The over is 7-1 in Miami’s last 8 Thursday games and Miami are 7-2 in their last 9 home games while the under is 19-6-1 in their last 26 on grass. St Louis are 22-10 in the last 32 meetings in Miami and are 17-8 in the last 25 meetings. Not really a favorite of mine but perhaps a small interest on the home squad…
