The Pittsburgh Pirates were red hot to take over second in the National League Central but have slowed a bit the past week. The Pirates have now dropped four of five following Wednesday’s loss and look to win the rubber match Thursday. Ace Gerrit Cole was charged with four runs in the first and five overall on eight hits and a trio of free passes through 4.2 frames which was too much for the offense. The Buccos totaled eight hits and walked once with Pedro Alvarez knocking in a run and scoring while Chris Stewart knocked in a run. AJ Burnett will be looking to get back in the win column against Cincinnati in the series finale’. Burnett was hit hard in a 4-1 loss at Washington where he was charged with four runs on 14 hits over 6.2 innings.
The under is 7-2 in Cincinnati’s last 9 overall and the under is 7-2 in their last 9 on grass while the Reds are 8-22 in their last 30 games as an underdog. The under is 10-2 in Pittsburgh’s last 12 home games and is 12-3 in their last 15 overall while going 12-3 in the Pirates last 15 on grass. Cincinnati are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings. Cincinnati has had the upper hand in this series so I’d be careful here…
