The Detroit Tigers take on AL Central foe the Chicago White Sox in Sunday afternoon action.
Consistency has not been a friend of the Chicago White Sox who are struggling to string wins together. The White Sox did give Detroit a battle in the series opener before falling 5-4. Jose Quintana gave up three runs on eleven hits over six frames before Jacob Petricka allowed a run for a blown save while Zach Duke served up a homer to take the loss. The bats totaled eight hits and walked twice with Adam Eaton, Tyler Flowers and Jose Abreu hitting solo homeruns. Jeff Samardzija is slated to be on the bump for his second outing against the Tigers on Sunday. Samardzija is shooting for consecutive victories after defeating Minnesota 6-2 where he gave up both runs on eight hits over seven frames.

The Detroit Tigers are in need of a prolonged hot streak to challenge in the American League Central that has been theirs for years. The Tigers have been playing well with wins in four of six after knocking off the White Sox on Friday. Starter Anibal Sanchez did just enough with four runs plated on six hits including three bombs through seven frames with the pen putting up zeros. Detroit racked up 14 hits with Rajai Davis leaving the yard while JD Martinez went deep and scored twice followed by Miguel Cabrera logged three doubles and drove in a run. Left hander David Price looks to continue his hot work on the mound when he opposes the White Sox on Sunday. Price is coming off a 7-3 win at Cleveland where he allowed one run on nine hits over 6.2 innings.
The White Sox are 1-8 in their last 9 games as an underdog and are 4-11 in their last 15 overall while going 9-4-1 in their last 14 Sunday games. The over is 15-5-1 in Detroit’s last 21 overall and the over is 15-5-1 in their last 21 on grass while the Tigers are 9-2 in Price’s last 11 starts. The White Sox are 13-32 in the last 45 meetings in Detroit. I’ll back Price who looks to have hit his stride…
