The Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Rays resume their series at Tropicana Field on Tuesday.
The Cleveland Indians have been slowly fading in the American League Central which is going to make it difficult to come back in the division race. The struggling Indians had dropped seven of ten before pounding out a 7-1 win at Tropicana Field on Monday. Starter Cody Sanderson was outstanding with the lone run plated on a solo homer over eight innings. The offense had a strong performance on 13 hits and four walks that saw Yan Gomes go 3-5 with a homer and two runs while Jason Kipnis 2ent 3-4 with an RBI and two more runs. The Indians send Danny Salazar to the hill to face Tampa Bay in game two of their series. Salazar will be looking to rebound from a 7-3 loss at Detroit where he was charged with all seven runs on six hits in 4.1 frames.

The Tampa Bay Rays have slowed a bit and that has dropped them to second in the American League East. The Rays are in need of a win before their slowdown becomes a slump after Monday’s loss was their 4th in five contests. Starter Nathan Karns was a tough luck loser with just two runs given up on nine hits through six innings before Ronald Bellisario was tagged for four runs in the 9th to put this one well out of reach. The Rays managed a mere three hits and did not walk with Grady Sizemore’s first homer of the season accounting for the scoring. Erasmo Ramirez looks to continue his hot work on the bump in Tuesday’s tilt with the Indians. Ramirez has been consistent as of late with a 6-2 record and 4.23 ERA over 61.2 innings.
Cleveland are 4-10 in their last 14 games as a favorite and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 overall while the Indians are 6-2 in Salazar’s last 8 road starts. The under is 22-5 in Tampa Bay’s last 27 games as an underdog and is 6-2-1 in their last 9 overall. Cleveland are 7-15 in the last 22 meetings in Tampa Bay. The Rays aren’t playing well but they are worth a look at great odds…
