The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Wednesday at Chase Field in game two of their MLB series of National League West teams.
The Arizona Diamondbacks battled into extra innings with the Dodgers on Tuesday but they came up short taking the loss. Nick Ahmed hit a home run and Paul Goldschmidt, Yasmany Tomas, and Jacob Lamb each had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed six hits and two runs while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to not get a decision as David Hernandez took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Robbie Ray who has allowed 28 hits and eight earned runs while striking out 28 over 36.1 innings for a 2-3 record and a 1.98 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers let their lead slip away on Tuesday but they got it done in extra innings beating the Diamondbacks. How Kendrick had four hits including a home run, Yasmani Grandal had two hits including a home run, and Yasiel Puig and Joc Pereson each had two hits as the Dodgers scored six runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Frias allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out one over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Joel Peralta got the win and Kenley Jansen earned his 12th save. For Wednesday’s game the Dodgers start Brett Anderson who has allowed 91 hits and 31 earned runs while striking out 62 over 89 innings for a 4-4 record and a 3.13 ERA.
Arizona is 4-1 in game three of a series, 8-3 in Wednesday games, and 1-4 in Ray’s last five starts. Los Angeles is 7-1 in game three of a series, 6-2 in their last eight games, and 2-5 in Anderson’s last seven road starts. Los Angeles is 25-7 in their last 32 games against Arizona.
The Dodgers have just had the D-Backs number and I don’t expect that to change here especially the way Anderson has pitched of late.
