The Pittsburgh Pirates look to leave the Motor City with a sweep of the Detroit Tigers.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are trying to chase down the Cardinals in the National League Central and have been playing well with wins in four of five after a 9-3 victory at Detroit Wednesday. AL Burnett was at the top of his game with a pair of runs scored on seven hits to up his record to 7-3. The Buccos hammered out 21 hits with Neil Walker clubbing a pair of long balls while Starling Marte, and Pedro Alvarez also went deep. Left hander Francisco Liriano looks for consecutive victories when he face the Tigers for the second time in 2015. Liriano topped Atlanta 3-2 last time out with both runs plated on six hits and three BB in seven innings.

If the Detroit Tigers are going to make a run in the National League Central they will need more consistency from both their arms and bats. The Tigers couldn’t get their arms and bats going in Wednesday’s loss which saddled the team with consecutive defeats. Starter Alfredo Simon was charged with six runs on 15 hits through 5.2 innings of work. The Tigers posted eleven hits with James McCann leaving the yard with Yoenis Cespedes driving in a run and scoring. Rookie lefty Kyle Ryan toes the rubber against the Pirates in his 5th start of the season. Ryan has struggled in his last two starts with seven runs given up on eleven hits over ten frames.
The over is 6-2 in Pittsburgh’s last 8 on grass and is 6-2 in their last 8 overall while going 6-2 in the Pirates last 8 games as a favorite. The over is 13-3-1 in Detroit’s last 17 games as an underdog and is 18-7-1 in their last 26 on grass while going 18-7-1 in the Tigers last 26 overall. Pittsburgh are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Detroit and the under is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings. This might be pushing the envelope but the hotter team is how I’m going…
