The St Louis Cardinals have suffering through a rare slow down where runs have been scarce and the pitching hasn’t been strong. The Cardinals have dropped an unheard of four in a row with their offense struggling to produce. A strong effort on the mound was wasted with Michael Wacha surrendering a solo jack through seven frames with Trevor Rosenthal allowing a 9th inning run to take the loss. The Redbirds totaled just four hits and walked three times with Jason Heyward recording a single, walk and run. Carlos Martinez shoots for his third straight win when he opposes the Cardinals on Saturday. Martinez comes off of a 4-1 win versus the Cubs with the lone run scored on two hits and a trio of BB in six innings.
San Diego are 3-7 in Despaigne’s last 10 road starts. St Louis are 44-13 in their last 57 home games and are 41-14 in their last 55 games as a favorite while the under is 11-4 in their last 15 Saturday games. San Diego are 14-43 in the last 57 meetings in St. Louis and are 36-78 in the last 114 meetings. The Cardinals are suffering through their first real losing streak and if they don’t hit Despaigne they could be in trouble…
