The Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Sunday in Arlington as they close out their MLB series of AL West teams.
The Texas Rangers dropped to .500 for the season as they lost on Saturday to the Angels for the second night in a row. Rougned Odor had two hits and Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo Choo added hits as the Rangers didn’t score on five hits. Starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-4 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who has allowed 99 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 74 over 100.1 innings for an 8-3 record and a 4.13 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels continued to chase down the Astros in the American League West as they beat the Rangers on Saturday. Kole Calhoun and C.J. Cron each hit home runs and Erick Aybar added three hits as the Angels scored 13 runs on 17 hits. Starting pitcher Hector Santiago allowed three hits and struck out three over 7.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 5-4 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Angels start C.J. Wilson who has allowed 90 hits and 43 earned runs while striking out 89 over 102.1 innings for a 6-6 record and a 3.78 ERA.
Texas is 4-1 against a left-handed starter, 4-10 in their last 14 games, and 1-4 in Lewis’ last five starts as a home underdog. Los Angeles is 6-1 in their last seven games, 5-1 against the AL West, and 1-7 in Wilson’s last eight road starts against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 13-2 in in their last 15 games in Texas.
The Rangers are struggling badly and haven’t had much luck against the Angels but I look for them to get the best of this one and get the win.
