The Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Wednesday at Coors Field for game two of their MLB interleague series.
The Colorado Rockies allowed runs in bunches on Tuesday and had little response as they lost to the Angels. Drew Stubbs hit a home run and Charlie Blackmon and D.J. LeMahieu each had three hits as the Rockies scored two runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Chad Bettis allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out two but lasting just 2.1 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start Christopher Rusin who has allowed 58 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 32 over 46.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 4.27 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels came out swinging the bats on Tuesday as they beat the Rockies. Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Matt Joyce, and Chris Ianetta each hit home runs as the Angels scored 10 runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Andrew Heany allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out five over 7.1 innings to get the win and go to 2-0 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Angels start Matt Shoemaker who has allowed 87 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 71 over 84.1 innings for a 4-7 record and a 4.91 ERA.
Colorado is 2-5 in game two of a series, 4-12 in games where the total is set at 11 or higher, and 1-5 in their last six games. Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last eight road games, 40-19 as a road favorite, and 14-2 in Shoemaker’s last 16 road starts. Los Angeles is 7-0 in their last seven games in Colorado.
The Angels are favored once again and I have to go with them once again as they are simply red hot and Colorado just isn’t good enough to stop them or even slow them down.
