The Miami Marlins ended a four game slide with Thursday’s victory but the Marlins need to build on it. The Marlins did very little at the plate but didn’t need much with ace Jose Fernandez looking 100% healthy from his Tommy John surgery. Fernandez improved to 2-0 with a six hits allowed through seven frames while recording nine strikeouts. The offense consisted of five hits and five walks with Justin Bour rapping an RBI double while Dee Gordon went 2-3 with a pair of runs. Right hander David Phelps gets the call to the mound in Friday’s tilt. Phelps suffered 5-2 defeat to these same Reds with all five runs plated on eight hits and a pair of BB in 5.2 innings.
Cincinnati are 4-14 in their last 18 Friday games and the over is 8-3-1 in their last 12 Friday. Games while the under is 7-3 in the Reds last 10 games as a favorite. Miami are 2-6 in Phelps' last 8 starts and are 2-6 in Phelps' last 8 starts on grass. Cincinnati are 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in Miami and 11-4 in the last 15 meetings. Going with the Fish but nothing big because there isn’t a huge advantage…
