The American League and the National League square off in the All Star game at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday.
The All Star game is traditionally a time when the fans get to interact with some of the best in the game today. The fans vote their favorite players in and sit back and root them on with the winning league getting the home field advantage for the World Series so there is something at stake. There is always the question of whether this has become a popularity contest as opposed to deserving player being ‘snubbed’ in the voting but that’s never going to change and something I don’t care to debate.

Suffice to say both teams are loaded with quality pitching and hitting and I don’t generally list too many names because the lineups are well known aside from a little tweaking where players are added or removed because of injury or other reasons. Instead I tend to look at the teams as a whole meaning which squad has the better hitting and pitching as a whole although that’s like saying it’s better to have vanilla versus chocolate ice cream…there is no right or wrong as it’s a matter of opinion and nothing more.
In 2015 I am looking at Great American Ball Park which is considered one of the best hitter’s parks in the game and I try to find an edge offensively on either side. Having said that I also know the pitching we see Tuesday is capable of shutting down any lineup so we could see a 2-1, 3-2 type game. On the flip side the offensive firepower is capable of putting up runs in bunches against anybody, anywhere. So what is more likely to happen? As a guy that likes to put a small wager on a game that is by definition a tossup I lean to the over but I always say this is a game to watch more then it’s a money making opportunity.
For me the side is always difficult to predict so I’ll sit back and root for some runs but check back for an update.
