The Kansas City Royals battle the Chicago White Sox in game one of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Kansas City Royals entered 2015 looking for back to back American League Central titles. Halfway through the season the Royals are on track as they sit atop the division with an impressive 52-34 record. KC has gone through some slow periods but the key to their success has been getting a staying hot and entering the break they were on one of their heaters. Kansas City has won eight of ten heading in to the second half where both the pitching and hitting has contributed to the success which has been their MO thus far. Kansas City sends right hander Edinson Volquez to the bump in game one of their twin bill at U.S. Cellular Field Friday. Volquez had a solid first half with an 8-4 record and 3.31 ERA over 18 starts.

The Chicago White Sox were one of the teams to beat in the American League Central not all that long ago when they used to trade blows with the Minnesota Twins. Of course that was when the White Sox roster was loaded with veteran players and before the Tigers began their domination of the division. The roster is now vastly younger which is a plus but also an anchor in some ways as youth means inexperience which generally means growing pains which I think we have seen. We have also seen a team that has potential throughout the lineup and pitching staff and I think we will see steady improvement as this isn’t a typical 5th place squad a 41-45.
Kansas City are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and are 7-1 in their last 8 games on grass while the over is 5-1-3 in the Royals last 9 games following a win. The under is 21-5 in Chivcago’s last 26 home games and the White Sox are 7-2 in their last 9 home games while the under is 13-4-1 in their last 18 Friday games. The Royals are 15-5 in the last 20 meetings and are 20-8 in the last 28 meetings in Chicago. I’m just going with the hot team although I’m unsure about who is pitching…
