The Kansas City Royals end their visit with the division rival Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
It seems that every time the Kansas City Royals are challenged they rise to the occasion. The Royals responded to Friday’s loss in game two of a DH with a 7-6, 13 inning win at U.S. Cellular Field Saturday. Jeremy Guthrie survived five innings with three runs allowed on nine hits for a ND but he limited damage before Greg Holland blew the save with two runs allowed in the 9th. KC pounded out 17 hits and walked six times with Mike Moustakas driving in two while Paulo Orlando went 2-4 with an RBI and run and Alcides Escobar posted three hits and a run. Lorenzo Cain finally ended things with his 9th bomb. Danny Duffy toes the rubber in the final game of the series at U.S. Cellular Field. Duffy has been stingy the past two times out with just two runs allowed on nine hits and six BB in 12.1 innings pitched.

The Chicago White Sox are capable of going on a few long hot streaks and now is the time to do so before Kansas City gets too far away in the American League Central. The White Sox dropped a heartbreaker Saturday and in doing so lost a game in the standings. Starter Jose Quintana gave up four runs on ten hits through 5.1 frames before Jacob Petricka allowed two more with Dan Jennings serving up a solo jack in the 13th to take the loss. Chicago logged 14 hits and four walks with Alexei Ramirez going deep a driving in a pair and scoring twice while JB Shuck went 2-5 with a pair of RBI’s. Left hander Chris Sale opposes visiting Kansas City for the second time this season on Sunday. Sale has won back to back contests where he has given up three runs on 12 hits over 16 frames while striking out 16.
Kansas City are 8-2 in their last 10 overall and are 8-2 in their last 10 games on grass. The White Sox are 8-3 in their last 11 home games and are 10-4 in their last 14 overall while going 10-4 in their last 14 games on grass. The under is 11-3 in Sale’s last 14 starts vs. the Royals while Kansas City are 17-6 in the last 23 meetings in Chicago. I know Sale is pitching but laying juice to red hot Kansas City isn’t appealing…
