The Texas Rangers visit Coors Field to face the Colorado Rockies in interleague action.
The Texas Rangers have slowed down from a decent start and are just trying to survive right now. The Rangers struggled once again in Sunday’s 10-0 defeat at Minute Maid Park where neither the work on the mound or at the plate was strong. Starter Yovani Callardo was hit hard with five runs scored on seven hits over four frames before Anthony Ranaudo gave up five runs in three innings on five hits and three free passes. The Rangers attack consisted of a pair of doubles and a single with 14 strikeouts. Veteran Wandy Rodriguez toes the rubber against the Rockies for the first time since 2012. Rodriguez would like to build on a 4-3 win versus San Diego where he allowed a run on three hits over 5.1 frames.

The Colorado Rockies have been a bit streaky at times and judging by their record the bad times have outnumbered the good. The Rockies need wins starting a month ago and as luck would have they had a 1-0 lead in the 5th at San Diego before the skies opened and the game was postponed. That means the Rockies are still riding a two game skid as their MO has been not being able to stay hot for any significant amount of time although the losing streaks have been too long. The Rockies might be ready to throw in the towel if consistency between the arms and bats doesn’t happen soon. Christopher Rusin is tabbed for the start against the Rangers who will see him for the first time. Rusin is 0-1 the last three times out despite allowing just five runs over 18.1 innings.
Texas are 2-8 in their last 10 overall and are 2-8 in their last 10 games on grass while the under is 10-3-2 in their last 15 Monday games. Colorado are 15-52 in their last 67 interleague games and are 7-17 in their last 24 Monday games. I’m leaning Colorado right now although I feel no urgent need to bet this…
