The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Miami Marlins face off on Tuesday at Chase Field for game two of their MLB series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t get a ton of offense on Monday but they got enough to get the win over Miami. Jacob Lamb and Chris Owings each had two hits and David Peralta had a hit and two RBI’s as the Diamondbacks scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed five hits and a run while striking out just one over 7.0 innings to get the win to go to 7-5 for the season while Brad Ziegler earned the save. For Monday’s game the Diamondbacks start Jeremy Hellickson who has allowed 103 hits and 53 earned runs while striking out 80 over 94.2 innings for a 6-5 record and a 5.04 ERA.

The Miami Marlins just couldn’t generate offense on Monday as they fell in Arizona. Derek Dietrich hit a home run, Christian Yellich had two hits, and Ichiro Suzuki had a hit as the Marlins scored one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher David Phelps allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out three over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-6 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Marlins start Mat Latos who has allowed 75 hits and 41 earned runs while striking out 67 over 75.1 innings for a 3-6 record and a 4.90 ERA.
Arizona is 1-6 in their last seven games, 1-4 against the NL East, and 4-0 in Hellickson’s last four home starts. Miami is 16-36 in their last 52 road games, 3-9 in their last 12 games, and 1-5 in Latos’ last six road starts. Miami is 1-4 in their last five games in Arizona.
Neither of these teams have ben inspiring of late so the value is all in the Dog and my pick is Miami.
