The Toronto Blue Jays pay a visit to O.co Coliseum to face the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
The Toronto Blue Jays are playing .500 baseball and even though the American League East is up for grabs they know that won’t win the division. The Blue Jays did take two of three against visiting Tampa Bay following a 4-0 victory on Sunday. Starter Marco Estrada was dominant with a three hit shutout over eight innings to up his record to 7-5. The bats did their damage on six hits and a pair of walks that featured two run homers off the bats of Jose Bautista and Chris Colabello. Veteran left hander Mark Buehrle gets the series opening start against the Athletics. Buehrle has been dependable for the Blue Jays with eight consecutive quality starts to his credit.

The Oakland Athletics are not the team that we saw over the last few years as they are well off the pace in the American League West and have their work cut out for them just to reach .500. The Athletics have won four of five after thrashing Minnesota 14-1 Sunday behind great pitching and hitting. Jesse Chavez tossed six scoreless innings and struck out nine to improve to 5-9. The offense was paced by the long ball with Josh Reddick hitting a grand slam while Jake Smolinski went deep twice and drove in four. Josh Phegley homered and knocked in three with Billy Butler going deep and logging a pair of RBI’s. The Athletics turn to Kendall Graveman who opposes the Blue Jays for the first time. Graveman suffered through a rare poor start in a 5-1 loss at Cleveland where he allowed all four runs on seven hits in 5.2 frames.
The under is 11-4-1 in Oakland’s last 16 overall and is 11-4-1 in their last 16 on grass. The under is 8-0 in the last 8 meetings. This looks like a complete wash on the mound with both guys being generally stingy so for now I lean under or the better odds in a coin toss…
