San Diego Padres vs. Miami Marlins - 7/23/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins have had a rough season but they haven’t stopped giving it big effort. Miami is 5-5 in their last 10 games, 16-32 on the road, and they are 12 games behind the Nationals in the NL East. As a team the Marlins are hitting .257 with Dee Gordon hitting .338, Adeiny Hechavarria hitting .279, and Martin Prado hitting .274. The Marlins pitching staff has an ERA of 3.77 with the starters at 3.99 and the bullpen at 3.36. For game one at San Diego the Marlins start Tom Koehler who has allowed 91 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 71 over 104 innings for a 7-6 record and a 3.38 ERA.

San Diego is 5-2 in their last seven games, 4-0 against a team with a losing record, and 5-1 in Ross’ last six starts. Miami is 17-35 in their last 52 road games, 5-1 against the NL West, and 4-11 in Koehler’s last 15 starts as an underdog. Miami is 1-4 in their last five games against San Diego.

The Marlins haven’t quit and I give them credit and the Padres can lay an egg on any night but I like the Padres in this spot.
