The Texas Rangers invade Anaheim to open a series with the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
The Texas Rangers had been scuffling over the past few weeks which has helped negate a solid start to the season. The Rangers are hoping the offense continues to rack up runs after a 10-8 win at Colorado on Wednesday gave the team 19 in back to back wins. Starter Martin Perez gave up four runs over six frames with Tanner Scheppers allowing four in the 8th. Texas amassed ten hits and seven walks with Rougned Odor smacking a triple and homer and driving in three. Elvis Andrus and Mitch Moreland also knocked in three runs apiece with Odor and Delino DeShields Jr. scoring seven times. The Rangers send Colby Lewis to the hill Friday to cool off the hot bats of the Angels on Friday. Lewis defeated the Astros 7-6 last time out with two runs allowed on four hits over 7.1 innings.
USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Angels got hot when Houston was struggling a bit and the result is they snatched away first in the American League West from the Astros. The Angels have been on an absolute tear as winners in eight of ten before their offense went silent in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Minnesota on Thursday. Starter Garrett Richards fell to 10-7 with a three run homer served up in the 4th marring a strong eight inning performance. The bats were unable to solve Ervin Santana with just four singles under their belt and zero bases on balls. No definite starter has been named for the Angels although Hector Santiago is a possibility?
Texas are 4-10 in their last 14 overall and are 4-10 in their last 14 games on grass while the over is 12-3-1 in Lewis' last 16 starts on grass. The under is 12-3-1 in the Angels last 16 home games while the Angels are 21-7 in their last 28 overall and are 21-7 in their last 28 games on grass. Texas are 6-21 in the last 27 overall. I’m leaning Angels if Santiago starts…
