The Los Angeles Dodgers look for back to back wins at Citi Field against the New York Mets.
The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the National League West and the obvious goal is to stay there ahead of San Francisco. The Dodgers rode great pitching and early scoring to a 7-2 win at Citi Field Friday for their win in a row. Ian Thomas evened his record at 1-1 with a run scored on three hits over five frames. The Dodgers racked up 12 hits with Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner going deep and driving in two while Jimmy Rollins went solo and scored twice. Rookie Zach Lee makes his major league debut against the Mets on Saturday. Lee has gone 41-38 in his minor league career with a 3.92 ERA with 476 strikeouts over 602 innings.

The New York Mets are just trying to stay close to Washington but they haven’t been playing well lately. The Mets took another step in the wrong direction Friday and have now dropped six of eight. Jon Niese had been red hot but struggled in the series opener with six runs given up on eight hits including a pair of bombs through three frames. The bats couldn’t compete with their six hit attack that saw Michael Conforto and Daniel Murphy drive in runs with Ruben Tejada and Lucas Duda scoring. Matt Harvey is slated to be on the mound to oppose the Dodgers for the second time in 2015. Harvey struggled with his control in a 7-2 loss at Washington with five runs allowed (four earned) on five hits and four BB in seven frames.
Los Angeles are 3-10 in their last 13 games as an underdog while the under is 15-5-1 in their last 21 road games and is 6-2-1 in the Dodgers last 9 Saturday games. New York are 2-7 in their last 9 Saturday games while the under is 9-3 in their last 12 home games with the Mets going 45-17 in their last 62 games as a favorite. The Dodgers are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in New York and the over is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings in New York. I don’t know what we’ll see from Lee so with the trends favoring the over perhaps a small play for an interest…
