The San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A’s face off on Saturday for game two of their MLB interleague MLB series.
The San Francisco Giants continued their hunt for a spot in the post season as they beat the A’s on Friday. Hunter Pence had four hits and Buster Posey and Angel Pagan each had three hits as the Giants scored nine runs on 17 hits. Starting pitcher Jake Peavy allowed five hits and three runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to get the win to go to 2-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Giants start Madison Bumgarner who has allowed 113 hits and 45 earned runs while striking out 124 over 124 innings for a 10-5 record and a 3.27 ERA.

The Oakland A’s got off to a rough start in San Francisco on Friday as they fell to the Giants. Ben Zobrist hit a home run, Billy Butler had three hits, and Josh Reddick had a hit as the A’s scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Jesse Chavez allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out one over 3.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-10 for the season. For Saturday’s game the A’s start Chris Bassitt who has allowed 22 hits and nine earned runs while striking out 17 over 27.2 innings for a 0-2 record and a 2.93 ERA.
San Francisco is 9-1 in their last 10 games, 21-5 in game two of a series, and 22-10 in Bumgarner’s last 32 starts. Oakland is 9-4 in their last 13 road games, 20-8 against the NL West, and 1-5 in their last five interleague games against a tea with a winning record. Oakland is 3-14 in their last 17 games in San Francisco.
The odds aren’t out for this one yet but my pick here is the Giants.
