The Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Wednesday in Seattle in game three of their MLB interleague series.
The Seattle Mariners never led on Tuesday as they fell to the Diamondbacks for the second night in a row. Nelson Cruz and Mike Zunino each hit home runs and Mark Trumbo and Brad Miller each had two hits as the Mariners scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma allowed 10 hits and six runs while striking out five over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Mariners start Felix Hernandez who has allowed 101 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 124 over 130.1 innings for a 12-5 record and a 2.69 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks led from start to finish on Tuesday to get the win in Seattle. Ender Inciarte hit a home run, David Peralta had three hits, and Paul Goldschmidt had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored eight runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Zack Godley has allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 2-0 since being called up from the Minors. For Wednesday’s game the Mariners start Patrick Corbin who has allowed 20 hits and nine runs while striking out 23 over 22 innings for a 1-3 record and a 3.68 ERA.
Seattle is 8-20 in their last 28 games as a favorite, 1-5 against a team with a losing record, and 4-1 in Hernandez’s last five starts as a home favorite. Arizona is 5-1 against the AL West, 5-1 in their last six games, and 5-2 in Corbin’s last seven starts as a road underdog. Arizona is 4-8 in their last 12 games against Seattle.
The Mariners have been awful this series but I have to believe King Felix gets it done at home in a day game.
