The New York Mets look to get in the win column against the San Diego Padres on Thursday.
The San Diego Padres are hanging on to postseason hopes but they have very little room for error. The Padres have been holding up their end of the bargain lately with wins in four of five after a 7-3 win over the Mets. Tyson Ross was at the top of his game with a run scored on two hits and four BB. SD amassed 15 hits and walked three times with Yonder Alonso cracking a solo bomb while Justin Upton went deep and drove in three with Will Venable and Yangervis Solarte scored two times. Andrew Cashner is slated to face the Mets for the second time on the year. Cashner defeated the Marlins 3-1 last time out with the lone run plated on five hits covering seven innings.

The New York Mets still have a shot at the National League East title but they must limit losing streaks. The Mets drive to chase down Washington took a step back with Wednesday’s defeat which snapped a three game winning streak. Starter Bartolo Colon did not last long with six runs given up on ten hits through only 2.1 innings. The New Yorkers managed just five hits and walked four times with Lucas Duda supplying all the offense with three sol homers on a 3-3 night at the plate. Left hander Jon Niese opposes visiting San Diego for the first time since 2013. Neis is hoping to rebound from a 7-2 loss to Los Angeles with six runs allowed on eight hits with two homers in just three frames.
The under is 8-1-1 in San Diego’s last 10 road games while the Padres are 2-7 in their last 9 road games with the under going 15-5-2 in the Padres last 22 overall. New York are 39-13 in their last 52 games as a favorite and are 37-16 in their last 53 home games while the under is 11-5 in the Mets last 16 home games. San Diego are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in New York. Cashner has struggled to get support and win so I prefer the Mets…
