The Baltimore Orioles look to stay hot with the Detroit Tigers in town to open a weekend series.
The Detroit Tigers might have called it a season when they traded away David Price as their play over the past few weeks has not been positive. The Tigers might have traded away their best hurler but their bats were alive and well in Thursday’s 9-8 win at Baltimore. Alfredo Simon gave up four runs over 5.2 frames with Shane Green allowing three more in an inning. The Tigers racked up 16bhits and walked three times with Yoenis Cespedes going 3-5 with a homer and three RBI’s with two runs. JD Martinez drove in three and scored twice while Rajai Davis knocked in two and Jose Iglesias scored three. The Tigers have called on Buck Farmer to replace David Price for Friday’s start at Camden Yards. In two starts in 2015 Farmer has allowed 12 runs on 17 hits including three homers over 10.1 frames.

Miguel Gonzalez gave up five runs on ten hits over 3.1 frames before Bud Norris was tagged for four runs on six hits through 2.2 innings. The Birds totaled ten hits and walked five times with Chris Davis going 2-4 with a homer and four RBI’s while Adam Jones left the yard and drove in two while scoring three times. Left hander Wei-Yin Chen gets the series opening start against the visiting Tigers on Friday night. Chen is looking to build on a 5-2 win at Tampa Bay with both runs plated on solo homers in 5.1 innings.

The under is 9-3-1 in Baltimore’s last 13 home games while the Orioles are 65-31 in their last 96 home games and the under is 7-1 in Chen’s last 8 Fri. starts.
