The Houston Astros and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Saturday for game two of their interleague MLB series.
The Houston Astros continue to battle for the lead in the American League West but they didn’t help themselves on Friday as they lost to the Diamondbacks. Carlos Correa and Jason Castro each hit home runs and Preston Tucker was among those with two hits as the Astros scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Scott Feldman allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out three over 5.1 innings to not get a decision as Pat neshik took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Astros start Dallas Keuchel who has allowed 116 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 132 over 151 innings for a 12-5 record and a 2.32 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks came from behind to tie the Astros on Friday before getting the win in extra innings. Wellington Castillo and Jake Lamb each hit home runs and David Peralta had three hits as the Diamondbacks scored six runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Daniel Hudson got the win and Brad Ziegler earned his 18th save. For Saturday’s game the Diamondbacks start Jeremy Hellickson who has allowed 112 hits and 55 earned runs while striking out 92 over 107.2 innings for a 7-6 record and a 4.60 ERA.
Houston is 13-4 against the National League West, 8-3 as a favorite, and 19-7 in Keuchel’s last 26 starts. Arizona is 5-0 in their last five road games, 7-0 in their last seven games, and 2-5 in Hellickson’s last seven starts when their opponent scores five or more runs in their previous game.
Houston is a big favorite here but Keuchel has been one of the best this season so I am willing to lay the big odds with him and the Astros.
