The St Louis Cardinals look to stretch their lead in the NL Central when the Colorado Rockies take the field on Saturday.
Even though the Colorado Rockies are not as bad as we have seen them in recent years I think it’s obvious they are fighting the odds once again anyway. The Rockies struggled in all areas in a 7-0 defeat at Busch Field on Friday night. Starter Kyle Kendrick allowed two runs on four hit in just one inning to fall to 4-12 before Gonzalez Germen and Christian Friedrich allowed five runs to let this one get out of reach. The offense couldn’t break through with six hits with Carlos Gonzalez doubling and coaxing a walk. Left hander Jorge De La Rosa looks to reverse his fortunes when he opposes the Cardinals for the second time in 2015. De La Rosa has allowed 12 runs on 12 hits over 9.2 frames.

The St Louis Cardinals have been dominating on the mound and if they ever get some consistent scoring they would be almost impossible to beat. The Cardinals got back in the win column Friday and showed what happens when their arms and bats on the same page. Starter Michael Wacha bounced back from a few poor outings with a four hit shutout through seven frames. The Redbirds pounded out 14 hits with Jhonny Peralta going deep and driving in two with Matt Carpenter going solo. Stephen Piscotty drove in two more while Kolten Wong drove in a run and scored twice. Lance Lynn hopes to continue his strong season when he toes the rubber against the Rockies on Saturday. On the year Lynn is 8-5 with a sparkling 2.71 ERA covering 19 starts where the team has gone 12-7.
Colorado are 25-69 in their last 94 road games and are 9-4 in De La Rosa’s last 13 starts. The under is 7-1-1 in the Cardinals last 9 overall and is 7-1-1 in their last 9 on grass while St Louis are 53-18 in their last 71 home games. Colorado are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings and are 6-2 in De La Rosa’s last 8 starts vs. St Louis. To me this one is St Louis or walk away…
