The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Saturday in Arizona in game two of their MLB series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t get a lot of offense on Friday but they didn’t need it as they beat the Reds in game one of their series. Wellington Castillo hit a home run, Ender Inciarte had two hits, and David Peralta had a hit as the Diamondbacks scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed four hits and struck out seven over 7.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 5-4 for the season and Brad Ziegler earned his 20th save. For Saturday’s game the Diamondbacks start Robbie Ray who has allowed 65 hits and 24 earned runs while striking out 63 over 71.2 innings for a 3-6 record and a 3.01 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds didn’t create a lot of scoring chances as they lost on the road at Arizona on Friday. Joey Votto, Todd Frazier, and Brayan Pena each had hits as the Reds failed to score on five hits. Starting pitcher Raisel Iglesias allowed three hits and a run while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Reds start Keyvius Sampson who has allowed three hits and three runs while striking out eight over 6.0 innings for an 0-1 record and a 4.50 ERA.
Arizona is 6-2 against the NL Central, 1-6 in game two of a series, and 0-5 in Ray’s last five home starts. Cincinnati is 3-8 on the road against a left-handed starter, 3-10 against the NL West, and 1-4 in their last five games against a team with a losing record. Cincinnati is 16-6 in their last 22 games in Arizona.
Sampson showed us nothing last time out so it’s tough to think he will here so my pick is Arizona.
