The Pittsburgh Pirates continue their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at PNC Park.
The Los Angeles Dodgers control their own fate meaning they lead the National League West and everybody else is playing catch up. The Dodgers had won six of seven before a series opening 5-4, ten inning defeat at Pittsburgh on Friday. Clayton Kershaw was charged with four runs on nine hits and a pair of BB over six frames with Jim Johnson allowing a 10th inning run to absorb the loss. The Dodgers managed six hits and walked five times with Jimmy Rollins and Howie Kendrick driving in two runs each while Joc Peterson scored twice. Newly acquired Mat Latos heads to the mound for his second start with the Dodgers. Latos was outstanding the first time out with his new team with a run allowed on four hits over six frames of a 5-3 win versus the Angels.

The Pittsburgh Pirates obviously want to win the National League Central but the Wild Card is probably their best hope at reaching the playoffs. The Pirates have been doing their part with wins in three of four following Friday’s victory. Starter Gerrit Cole allowed three runs on four hits and a trio of free passes through six innings with four relievers holding the Dodgers at bay. The Buccos racked up 14 hits and walked five times with Gregory Polanco smacking a solo homer while Andrew McCutchen went 2-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs. Left hander Francisco Liriano toes the rubber against the visiting Dodgers on Saturday. Liriano pitched his way out of several jams in beating Minnesota10-4 with three runs given up on ten hits in 5.2 innings.
The Dodgers are 3-11 in their last 14 games as an underdog while the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 Saturday games and is 17-8-2 in their last 27 road games. The over is 7-2 in Pittsburgh’s last 9 home games while the Pirates are 39-15 in their last 54 games as a favorite with the over going 10-4-1 in their last 15 games as a favorite. The Dodgers are 69-30 in the last 99 meetings. I’m going with the Pirates who should have plenty of momentum after Friday’s big win…
