The Washington Nationals shoot for another win against the Colorado Rockies in Saturday action.
The Colorado Rockies are destined to finish out of the postseason and are likely looking at ways to improve in 2016. The Rockies had dropped seven of ten before a late rally propelled them to a 5-4 win at Washington Friday. Starter Jorge De La Rosa was charged with four runs (three earned with three relievers putting up zeros. The offense logged eight hits with Carlos Gonzalez going deep and driving in four while Nolan Arenado went 3-4 with a pair of runs. Colorado turns to Eddie Butler for his first career start versus the Nationals. Butler was hit hard in an 8-7 loss to Seattle with seven runs scored on seven hits including three homers over four frames.

The Washington Nationals are trying to ward off the Mets in the National League East and need to right the ship going forward. The Nationals blew a late lead and suffered another disappointing loss Friday. In the process Jordan Zimmermann was at his best with a single run given up on four hits through 6.2 frames before Drew Stroren loaded the bases in the 8th and served up a grand slam. The bats totaled six hits and walked six times with Bryce Harper driving in a run and scoring twice while Danny Espinosa scored two times. Washington has activated Stephen Strasburg off the disabled list to start against the Rockies. On the season Strasburg has recorded a 5-5 record with a 5.16 ERA covering 13 starts.
Colorado are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and are 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass while going 26-71 in their last 97 road games. Washington are 7-3 in their last 10 games as a favorite. The under is 33-16-6 in the last 55 meetings. In my view the Nationals are not bettable as they find ways to lose but I’ll throw this out there and watch them screw up another game…
