The Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals face off on Sunday at Miller Park as they close out their MLB series of National League Central teams.
The Milwaukee Brewers have struggled thus far to score this series losing again on Saturday without scoring a run. Jean Segura and Elian Herrera each had hits and Jason Rogers had two Milwaukee’s five walks as the Brewers didn’t score off of two hits. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta allowed five hits and three runs while striking out two over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-7 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Jimmy Nelson who has allowed 119 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 114 over 136 innings for a 9-9 record and a 3.57 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals didn’t get a ton of offense on Saturday but they put it together enough to get the win. Matt Carpenter hit a home run, Stephen Piscotty had two hits, and Randal Grichuk had a hit as the Cardinals scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Jaime Garcia allowed two hits and struck out five to get the win and raise his record to 4-4 and Trevor Rosenthal earned his 33rd save. For Sunday’s game the Cardinals start John Lackey who has allowed 138 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 107 over 145.1 innings for a 9-7 record and a 2.85 ERA.
Milwaukee is 4-11 in their last 15 games, 0-6 in their last six games as an underdog, and 6-2 in Nelson’s last eight starts. St. Louis is 9-1 in their last 10 games as a road favorite, 5-1 in their last six games against a team with a losing record, and 9-4 in Lackey’s last 13 starts as a favorite. St. Louis is 27-10 in their last 37 games in Milwaukee.
With the total set at 7.5 I like the under and none of the games this series have come close to going over. I also have a strong play on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
