The Texas Rangers hope to leave Safeco Field with a win against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
The Texas Rangers are back in the hunt for a Wild Card berth thanks to some strong play the last few weeks. The hot streak continued with an 11-3, eleven inning win at Seattle Saturday. Starter Martin Perez gave up all three runs over six frames with three relievers finishing the job. Prince Fielder paced a 17 hit attack with a homer and three RBI’s with Chris Gimenez also knocking in three. Delino DeShields Jr. and Josh Hamilton drove in two runs apiece with ten players scoring. The Rangers send Colby Lewis to the hill to oppose the Mariners for the second time in 2015. Lewis comes off of a 12-9 win against Houston despite allowing seven runs on ten hits including three homers over six frames.

The Seattle Mariners have been heating up the past week or so and whether that trend continues remains to be seen. The Mariners had won four of five before Saturday’s 11th inning meltdown cost them. Starter Mike Montgomery allowed three runs on five hits and four free passes through four frames before Rob Rasmussen was tagged for six runs in the 11th with Joe Beimel allowing two more. The M’s mustered eight hits and walked four times with Jesus Montero scoring and driving in a run while Mark Trumbo and Brad Miller also knocked in runs. Felix Hernandez gets the ball on Sunday against the Rangers hoping to reverse some recent struggles. Hernandez has given up eleven runs the last two times out on 23 hits in 13.1 innings of work.
Texas are 1-8 in their last 9 Sunday games with the under going 40-16-3 in their last 59 Sunday games while the over is 13-4-1 in Lewis' last 18 starts on grass. The over is 15-3-3 in Seattle’s last 21 home games and is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games as a favorite while the Mariners are 3-8 in their last 11 Sunday games. The under is 12-3-2 in Lewis' last 17 starts vs. Seattle and is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings. The Rangers are the far better team and the King has been struggling but I’ll take my chances…
