The New York Mets look to get back in the win column at the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
The New York Mets have been red hot which is a good way to be with the dangerous Nationals lurking tin the shadows. The Mets saw their seven game winning streak end in a 5-4 loss at Tampa Bay on Saturday. Noah Synergaard was charged with all five runs on eight hits and a pair of BB over four frames to fall to 6-6. New York totaled eight hits and walked twice with Curtis Granderson slamming a pair of solo jacks while Lucas Duda drove in two more. Veteran Bartolo Colon looks for consecutive victories when he Faces Tampa Bay on the road. Colon comes off of a 12-1 win at Miami where he allowed the lone run on seven hits over eight frames.

The Tampa Bay Rays still have a shot at the Wild Card but they have to get and stay hot. The Rays are hoping Saturday’s win is the start of something good with a consistent offense leading the way. Starter Nathan Karns gave up all four runs on eight hits and two free passes through five frames which was good enough to get the win with four relievers putting up zeros. The offense did their damage on ten hits and three walks with Grady Sizemore going deep and driving in two while Kevin Kiermaier knocked in two more with John Jaso scoring twice. Tampa Bay turns to Chris Archer for his first career meeting with the New York Mets. Archer has been outstanding the past three times out with three runs allowed on 14 hits over 20 innings.
The Mets are 18-5 in their last 23 Sunday games while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 on astroturf and is 13-6 in their last 19 Sunday games. The under is 8-2-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 13 on astroturf while the Rays are 3-8 in their last 11 games as a favorite and the under is 5-2-3 in their last 10 home games. I’m going with Archer and hoping he gets run support…
